This Privacy Policy explains how Luminous Bits Inc ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit devoidgame.com (the "Site") and when you play Devoid (the "Game"), including its optional online leaderboards. Sections 1 to 5 cover the Site. Section 6 covers the Game. By using the Site or the Game, you agree to the practices described below.
The only personal information we collect is your email address, and only if you choose to sign up for our newsletter.
We use your email address solely to:
• Send newsletter updates, such as game announcements and early access info.
• Keep track of how our audience is growing over time.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.
Our newsletter sign-up form is processed by FormSubmit, which handles the email submission on our behalf. We do not use any analytics, advertising, or visitor-tracking services on this Site.
Prior to September 4, 2026, the Site used Google Analytics and, at an earlier point, PostHog, to collect general visitor usage data. Both have since been removed from the Site, and no further data is being collected through them. Historical data gathered before that date may still exist within those services in accordance with their own data retention policies.
We retain your email address until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your email address, or unsubscribe from our newsletter, at any time by contacting us using the details below.
Devoid has optional online leaderboards (worldwide, friends, and a weekly event). They are on by default and you can turn them off or delete your data at any time (see "Your controls" below). The Game plays fully offline without them.
What we collect when online leaderboards are on:
• Your Steam ID. When you play, Steam gives the Game a one-time login ticket, which our server checks with Steam to confirm who you are. We never receive your Steam password.
• Your in-game pilot name or squad name, which is passed through an automatic name filter.
• The results of each run you finish: score, game mode, per-mission statistics (such as enemies defeated, damage taken, and time), level, station reached, weapons and items equipped, cause of death, seed type, cosmetic loadout, and the time the run was submitted.
• Technical data. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes your IP address to deliver requests and protect against abuse. We do not store IP addresses in our database.
We do not collect your real name, email address, payment details, or precise location through the Game.
Your Steam Friends List:
We temporarily access your Steam Friends List to filter and display leaderboard standings among your friends. The list is read from Steam on your computer and sent to our server over an encrypted connection only for the moment it takes to build that friends view. We do not store it, log it, or keep any record of who is friends with whom. If your Steam friends list is private or empty, the Game simply shows your own scores.
How we use this information:
• To show leaderboards and your rank, and to let other players view the scorecard of a run.
• To confirm runs are genuine, prevent cheating, and moderate names and abuse. We may hide runs or block accounts that cheat or use offensive names, and we keep the Steam ID of a blocked account so the block cannot be avoided.
• To announce weekly event results. Each week we may post the top three pilots (pilot name and score only) in our Discord server, on devoidgame.com, and on our social media accounts (such as Instagram). If you would rather not be featured, turn off Online Leaderboards in the Game or email us and we will leave you out.
• To improve game balance, using run data in aggregate, without names or Steam IDs.
We do not sell, rent, or trade this information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
Who can see it:
Your pilot or squad name, score, and run details are visible to other players on the leaderboards, and may appear on Discord, on our Site, and on our social media accounts as described above. Your Steam ID is not shown on the leaderboards.
Service providers:
• Cloudflare hosts our leaderboard server and database. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries.
• Steam (Valve) provides your login and friends information under its own privacy policy.
• Discord and social media platforms such as Instagram display the weekly results we post, under their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it:
We keep leaderboard data for as long as the online leaderboards operate, or until you delete it.
Your controls:
• In the Game, go to Settings > Advanced and turn off "Online Leaderboards". While it is off, the Game does not upload runs, read your friends list, or contact the leaderboard server. Data you uploaded earlier stays until you delete it.
• In the same menu, choose "Delete Online Data" to permanently remove the runs and name we hold for your Steam account. This cannot be undone. A deleted run disappears from the leaderboards and the Site within a few minutes. Posts already made in Discord are not removed automatically; email us and we will take them down.
• You can also email us at the address below to access, correct, or delete your data, or to object to how we use it. If you live in the EU, UK, or California, you have these rights under local law, and we will honor them wherever you live.
If you are under 18, please ask your parent or legal guardian for permission before giving us any personal information (such as signing up for our newsletter or using online features in the Game). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us so we can remove it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
